ABOUT Christ The Healer
OUR HISTORY
Christ the Healer Church is a vibrant, Bible-believing church under the covering of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship. The church held its 1st service on June 7th, 1998 at the Holiday Inn Express (formerly the Baymont Inn) with approximately forty people in attendance. After being asked to leave The Baymont Hotel (for no reason), Christ the Healer Church relocated to an unfinished warehouse at its current property of 1295 Paradise Hill Road, Clarksville, Tennessee. The church experienced tremendous growth—despite worshiping inside of a warehouse without drywall and with concrete floors with members sitting in folded metal chairs. After several years, the church was redesigned into a state-of-the art worship facility.
The vision of Christ the Healer Church always included being a covering for other pastors and churches. In 2003, Bishop Lockett was appointed as Middle Tennessee District Overseer and then elevated as Tennessee State Overseer a couple of years later. A major highlight both in the history of our church and the life of our visionary occurred during our church’s 10th year in existence. On Tuesday, June 24th, 2008, Bishop Paul S. Morton and the leadership of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship consecrated Calvin Bruce Lockett into the office of Bishop. During the global pandemic, Presiding Bishop Joseph W. Walker elevated Bishop Lockett to the Council of Bishops as the Bishop of Fellowship Relations.
Over the years, hundreds of souls have been saved, helped, healed, delivered and set free. In 2015, the church completed a $900,000 expansion which included an administrative suite, Christian education wing, Kidzone (to include nursery area), sanctuary expansion, and additional parking. Christ The Healer Church has grown to over 500 active members with an ever- increasing virtual community. The culture of our church can be summed up in our mission statement: “Christ the Healer Church is a body of baptized believers whose primary purpose is to Exalt the Savior through Worship, Equip the Believer with the Word, Edify one another through Fellowship, and Evangelize the Loss through Witnessing. Our church aspires to be persistent in prayer, diligent in discipleship, and purposeful in our praise.”
